Give me some answers…

I have been an avid armchair political analyst for the last several years and I have noted a trend that I believe is coming to a whole new level of endorsement by both the GOP and theDems.  What trend you may ask?  The attack response antics of McCain and Obama?  The use of cleverly engineered snarkyness?  No I am talking about the ability of both candidates to keep talking without saying anything of value.  I have seen this rhetorical device used so often I am reduced to having to listen to political pundits for any kind of “real world” theories that may be floating around the campaigns.  I would like to stop hearing aboutmavericks and change and get down to some real world scenarios in which these two give the American people some real answers, not aphorisms about freedom or the economy and no moreeuphemisms for how bad our economy really is.  I want some answers.  The American people need answers, not empty politically engineered promises and that goes for both parties.  Here is a list of things I would like to know.

1. Ok both candidates have spoken about drilling off the American coast and the ANWR range to lessen energy costs (No viable resources would be available at a conservative estimate for 3 or more years).  Now that we have a band-aid that will get us to the hospital without bleeding our economy out, what do you plan to do next?  We know petrol is a non-renewable energy source and our great grand children will be in the same place we are.  What are your plans for renewable energy?  Remember candidates I want answers not promises of “If I…” what can you do now?

2.  When it comes down to brass tacks, is it America’s job to be the global police force?  Does America need to be embroiled in foreign wars over natural resources, political climates, or border issues between other nations? Why or Why not?  I know this is a complex question with many, many variables so I will take a 20 to 30 page essay as a response typed single space MLA format would be fine.

3.  When it comes to the economy, which if you haven’t noticed is in the gutter right now, what do you see as a real-world fix?  What programs have you backed to regain economic confidence from foreign and domestic markets?  Outside of those programs what can you offer? What can be done to bring middle class small town America back from the brink of extinction in the face of Big Box stores and years of legislation that works against middle America?

I think answers to these questions would provide the vital information for me to be an educated voter.  I would like to ask one more thing.  Mr. McCain, Mr.Obama quit touting change and give America some real answers, we as citizens need them and we need them now.
